This page explains the cookies Topaz Creations ("we", "us") uses on topazcreations.co.za. It is part of our Privacy Policy, which describes everything else we collect and why.
1. The cookies we set
Session cookie — keeps you logged in and maintains your session state. It is cryptographically signed so it cannot be tampered with or forged, it is sent only over HTTPS, and it cannot be read by scripts in your browser. It expires when you log out, or when you close your browser unless you asked us to keep you signed in, in which case it lasts up to 30 days.
This cookie is strictly necessary: without it you cannot sign in or keep working on your websites. We protect against cross-site request forgery by checking the origin of each request, not by setting another cookie.
Taste Trial device cookie — set the first time you press "Start your Taste Trial", whether or not a trial is granted. It holds a random code, lasts one year, cannot be read by scripts in your browser, and lets us limit free trials to one per device.
Topaz staff accounts use three further cookies while a staff member is helping a customer from their own browser. They are never set in a customer's browser and end when that staff member logs out or closes the browser.
2. What we do not use

- No cross-site tracking
3. Local storage (not a cookie)
We store a randomly generated identifier in your browser's local storage so that we can count how our own pages are used. It is not a cookie and it is never shared with anyone else. When you are signed in, we record it together with your account, so it is linked to you. We do not set it if your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.
4. Fonts from Google
Your browser requests the typefaces used on this site directly from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address and browser details on each page you visit. We send Google nothing else — no account information, no page content, and no identifier of any kind.
5. Managing cookies
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Because the session cookie is what keeps you signed in, blocking it means you will not be able to log in to Topaz.
